About Us
Arbitration & Business Cases is a blog created by Igor Ellyn and Robin Dodokin in September 2021, which publishes summaries of about six new cases monthly. Kathryn Manning joined our blog team in October 2022.
Our intention is to provide timely, concise summaries and commentary about Ontario and Canadian case law on arbitration and business matters. We hope our case summaries will be useful to our readers.

Igor is a seasoned arbitration and mediation professional, in addition to being a business litigation lawyer for over 40 years. He has been appointed to arbitrate many commercial disputes and was counsel on complex arbitrations and litigation matters arising from arbitrations in Ontario, Quebec, and England.
He is very experienced in corporate, shareholder, partnership, real estate, leasing and contract cases and disputes involving financial, valuation and appraisal evidence.
Igor has mediated commercial disputes as mediator and as counsel. His calm, pragmatic approach inspires trust. He seeks creative solutions to difficult issues to assist “warring” parties to find a resolution, which may have eluded them over years of litigation. Igor arbitrates and mediates in English, French and bilingually. He is also fluent in Romanian, conversant in Hebrew and German, and understands some Italian and Spanish. He is at ease with technology and has mediated and arbitrated at many virtual hearings as arbitrator, mediator and counsel.
He is also a member four international arbitration panels, is a past president of the Ontario Bar Association and a past Chair of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Toronto Chapter and is the author of three books.

Robin is a lawyer, mediator, and arbitrator. She is a member of the NextGen Arbitrators at Arbitration Place and a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (“FCIArb”).
She was called to the bar in 1993 and worked in private practice as an associate lawyer and then a partner at a mid-size firm for 23 years.
In 2017, Robin founded Dodokin Law & Conflict Resolution which offers legal, mediation and arbitration services
Her practice focuses on the areas of commercial, contractual, and business disputes including shareholder disputes and oppression remedy claims and insolvency. Robin represents parties at arbitration, and she has been appointed to arbitrate commercial disputes. Robin has been appointed to mediate many kinds of disputes relating to commercial, business, contract, negligence, family business changes and insolvency matters. She is an effective, fair, pragmatic, and creative mediator and arbitrator with expertise in virtual hearings.

Kathryn is a Founding Partner in DMG Advocates LLP, a commercial litigation boutique based in Toronto.
She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998. Prior to founding DMG, Kathryn practised for many years in the litigation and dispute resolution groups of two large national law firms.
